“ So I was feeling matcha today on my way back home from work and decided to stop by Cafe Maiko for a pick me up. This is some of the best matcha there is in San Diego!! The cafe is located right off of Clairemont Mesa so very easy to find and has it own private parking lot. I ordered the iced strawberry matcha with almond milk half sweetened and an original bubble waffle. Didn't take too long at all even though it was a little busy. You order from the kiosk screen and they give you a number for wait queue when order is ready. Charming place and I would definitely come back here again for my next matcha! ”
“ We found this place on Instagram and decided to try it out with my friends. The place was very busy and popular! There was a line but it goes by fast. They have a computer to order on if you don't want to wait in line. They have a large variety of drinks, soft serve, shaved ice and so much more! We got a variety of different soft serves and they were all delicious. I got the vanilla banana pudding and that was so tasty and delicious. I liked how flavorful the banana was. They do run out of items so be prepared for that. The place is small and has very limited seating. It does get busy in there so if you see a spot definitely take it right away! The inside of the place was cute and definitely fits their vibe. I can't wait to go back and try to try something new on their menu. ”
“ Parking has very compact spots. Order by tablet. Had a feature in the front of the store to track your order progress. The cones are so good so even if you get a cup you can order a cone as well to enjoy with the ice cream. Ube was a favorite for the group. My sister enjoyed the black sesame. My son enjoyed the vanilla but it was on the simpler side. It's a small place but there were plenty of chairs and tables and we didn't have any trouble finding space as people were in an out quickly. (Friday night visit) ”
“ This place has been on my list for a while but when I saw the viral banana pudding matcha, I knew I had to go while it's available. I went there a little bit after 11 am and the banana pudding wasn't ready there. Came back around 1 pm and was told it's ready now. Placed the order on the kiosk. You can adjust the level of sweetness and they have alternative milk options. I didn't wait long for the drink. Luckily, I got there before the place started picking up. I ordered mine at half sweet and it was so good! Perfect amount of sweetness including the banana slices, banana flavor, and graham crumbles. Like wow, such a great combo. I wish I ordered two! Definitely will be back and will try the soft serve as well. I would say if you were looking for human interaction with the workers, you will have to wait at the counter until they come out with a drink order to ask your questions. It is located in center with plenty of parking. ”
“ I've been wanting to try the banana pudding matcha and it was tasty! The pudding gave the matcha the perfect amount of sweetness for me. My daughter got her usual strawberry matcha. If you're not a fan of matcha like my youngest, it's probably best not to order drinks such brown sugar milk tea, it literally tasted like boba flavored water. It was pretty busy for a Monday afternoon. Good amount of seating inside and parking is okay depending on when you're there, since it's in a plaza with alot of other shops. ”
“ This place is so delicious!! It was so difficult to pick a drink cuz every single thing on the menu looked so tasty. I had a friend recommend this place and she confirmed that every single item here is amazing. I got the matcha yuzu drink, and it had a very good flavor! For being regular sweet plus the added kokuto, and I'm surprised that it wasn't too sweet. Plus the yuzu and the matcha flavors paired so well! And you can really taste to quality of the matcha that they used. I also got the mochi and it didn't have the traditional sweet glaze but a sweet glaze that tasted like kokuto. I only wish that the glaze was thicker so it stuck to the mochi better. The mochi itself was very fresh and had a great chewy texture. The store itself is pretty small, there were only a hand full of tables available inside. This place is pretty popular so all the tables were filled and the standing spaces were packed with people. There was a parking lot that is charged by the entire plaza. ”
“ I've never tried this place even though I live close by because I had a misconception that chain matcha places aren't that good since I can make it at home. I decided to try it today because they've been promoting their seasonal banana pudding matcha latte. They were kinda busy but my drink only took about 10 mins from when I finished ordering on the kiosk. The matcha quality was pretty good and rich and the banana pudding wasn't too overly sweet nor did it overpower the matcha. I'm knocking a star off because my drink was close to $10. At that point, I think I'll just continue to make my matcha at home but I like the variety of matcha drinks they have here as it's not just lattes. ”
“ My friend and I have been wanting to try out Matcha Maiko again for their seasonal banana items! I've tried Tokyo Banana milk and I guess wanted to continue my banana spree. I ordered via kiosk because it was pretty busy, maybe 20-30 minutes after opening at 11am. The matcha latte is creamy and sweet ( pretty sure you can reduce the sweetness if wanted ) and delicious! The banana pudding is all I needed and more. Yummy pudding with that real banana flavor, banana slices, and some graham crumbles for texture. Excellent item and I wish it wasn't just seasonal. It was a wait because again, busy but there's a kiosk near the front of the store that shows your order's progress! So keep an eye out if you don't hear your number too well! Always love coming because the service is super nice and the food/drinks are delicious! ”
“ "i feel God in this matcha cafe." "They went above & beyond to fulfill our hopes & dreams" Went on Sunday afternoon after hearing about the banana pudding matcha, and was busy & sold out, sadly. So we opted for a matcha ube swirl float. Excellent. Exquisite. My only critique would be to eliminate the ice in a soft serve float, unnecessary & inhibits the drink, in my opinion. We also ordered a strawberry matcha float, and then the banana pudding came back in stock, and they were kindly able to switch our order to a banana pudding float. Lived up to the hype. Was not disappointed. It was pretty busy & a bit of a wait, but well worth it! The actual shop is small with seating, but limited. Come for the matcha & soft serve, will not be disappointed!!! ”
